Elizabeth Taylor often sought solace in her Abyssinian cat, Cassius. In a letter to the cat, she wrote ‘I remember the sweet smell of your fur against my neck when I was deeply in trouble... You knew always when I hurt and you made comfort for me.’ It seems as though, in cats, Elizabeth finally met her match: they were just as passionate, fierce and loving as each other.
